Just like it takes a community to raise a child, it takes a community to grow a business.
Being a business owner, entrepreneur or independent contractor is hard work and often thankless. The hours are endless, and it doesn’t matter if there’s a holiday, recital or sporting event calling your name, the job must get done.
Our #localsupportinglocal campaign is about sharing and celebrating the businesses striving for success in the Kamloops area. It’s about acknowledging the innovation our local business holders have created and sharing it with those that will benefit from it. Together, if we support and encourage each other we can find success.
It’s easy to start a business, and if you do your research, you’ll see that in 2018 there were 5,750 business licenses issued in the Kamloops Area. It’s hard to keep a business running and growing. Technology has allowed us to be able to find everything we need with the touch of a finger and the click of a mouse but what happens when we stop leaving our houses to get the things we need? We stop the beautiful dance of customer service and forget the small acts of kindness can do for ourselves and others. The quick (or not so quick) conversations that remind us we need toothpaste or that we’re lucky to have something that many other people don’t. A simple smile can change a person’s day.
Our campaign is designed to share the spotlight. We want the small businesses that put the personal touch on what they do, and we want to let people know they do that.
Often small businesses rely on word of mouth advertising because they don’t have the budget that big businesses have. So, this is our word of mouth. If you visit our website and have already found this post, then you are already learning about some of the amazing businesses and opportunities our great city offers. That’s step one. The next step is to go to another feature business website and see what they have. Leave a review. Ask a question, and if you like what you see, share it. I can guarantee that if enough of us do that together, then we’ll start #succeedingtogether.
This campaign is special to us. Help us get the word out there and please recommend any business you know that may be able to benefit from the gift of the support of their community.
